Thrust ball bearing features and applications

Thrust ball bearings are classified into those with Flat seats or aligning seats, excellent in sustaining axial loads, but unable to take radial loads.

In Nsk manufacture smaller sizes are supplied with pressed steel cages, and larger types with Brass cages.

Available in both single and double direction styles, both of which can sustain Axial loads, but not radial loads.

With Double direction Thrust ball bearings there are three rings, with the centre ring fixed to the shaft.

Both Single and Double direction Thrust ball bearings are available with Aligning Seat and washer to compensate for misalignment or deflection.

Spherical Thrust Roller bearings have a spherical raceway in the outer ring with the rollers diagonally arranged in a single row. These bearings have a very high axial load capacity and are capable of taking moderate radial loads when an axial load is imposed. Spherical Roller Thrust bearings are capable of handling misalignment and are suited for moderate speed operation.

Ball Thrust bearings are used in Screw Jacks, Machine tool Spindle tail stock, Vertical openers in spinning and weaving machines.

Spherical Thrust bearings are used in Pumps, Coal pulverizers, Plastic Forming Equipment, Industrial Gear Boxes, Axial Piston Pumps.
