About linear shaft

Precision steel solid and hollow shafts are most commonly supplied in h6 and h7 Tolerance grades. Key properties of precision shafting are, high precision tolerances on the diameter, on roundness, on straightness and on parallelism.

They are made in standard heat treatable steel, corrosion resistant steel, or with hard Chrome plated steel. As well as being used with Linear bushings, High precision shafts suitable for use with yoke and stud type bearings and ball bearings. Where weight of the unit is a consideration, hollow shaft is an option.

Linear shafts can be machined to customer’s drawings, with axial or radial holes, milled flats, profiled undercuts, keyways and threaded studs. Linear shafting is supplied chamfered as standard to ensure ease of fitting bearings.

Linear shafting can also be supplied pre-drilled for use with linear support rail.

Linear shafting is used in a large variety of linear applications, also for general mechanical engineering, as hinge pins for heavy loads, piston rods and drive shafts.

Corrosion resistant shafts such as X46 and X90, as well as shafts with Corrosion resistant coatings, are used widely in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Some of the many applications for Linear shafting are; general engineering machines, Woodworking machines, foundries, cement plants, Medical, Chemical and food industries, Cnc machines and actuators.
